Our Unique Programs

Global Partners for Youth organizations are unique in several respects. First our youth choose to participate. They are neither adjudicated into the programs nor required to participate by their schools or parents. Second, the curriculum is designed to reconnect youth to a sense of responsibility and vision for their lives. It is based on personal redirection, exploring and modeling paradigms as well as ropes course work. Each organization designs these highly structured programs in cooperation with trainers who have specialized skills in delivering the curriculum. Third, the organizations provide in-depth training for adult volunteers who participate in each program cycle. The level of commitment that the volunteers make to each program is extraordinary.

The GPY approach is not one of adults "doing for" or "fixing" youth. Adults, staff and volunteers engage along with youth in putting the cornerstones into practice in their lives. Adult modeling of authenticity, honesty, openness and dedication to personal growth follows our belief that children will only "do what we do" and not what we say or tell them to do.

Support For Member Organizations

LEADERSHIP TRAINING ACADEMY

GPY has developed a Leadership Training Academy (LTA) to train program leaders within each organization. The intention is that each organization will become self-sufficient, sustainable, and that the overall quality, scope and effectiveness of program delivery will improve. The LTA faculty members are selected from GPY organizations and trainers outside of GPY.

ANNUAL CONFERENCE

The Annual Conference provides an opportunity for sharing of resources, training and development in the areas of marketing, fundraising and programs among staff, volunteers and board members. It is also a forum to strengthen GPY organizations by sharing successes and resources. The conference also services as the annual meeting where new board members are elected.

OUTREACH

GPY provides support for those interested in developing these programs in their communities.

Youth

"[CYR] helped me see myself personally and physically to accept myself as who I am and who I am is a powerful and wonderful person that is worthy of anything and everything. This program is not just for troubled kids, it is also for kids who want to take a stand for their lives."
