"Seattle Community for Youth program has had stunning results over the past ten years. We work with 100 to 120 students per year at two inner city high schools; Cleveland and Rainer Beach. Our target population is ninth graders because they have the highest incidence of dropout. 98% of our 9th graders stay in school, most improve their attendance and GPA. We have adopted an academic readiness initiative aimed at improving the basic skills of students struggling with reading and writing and who want to improve their academic discipline. We offer life skills workshops each month, mentor support and tutoring, as needed."
